Newmains woman thanked by niece for helping family through heart-breaking loss

A woman from Newmains has received heartfelt thanks from her niece for supporting their family through difficult times. Tracy Campbell expressed her gratitude towards her aunt, Catherine Watson, for her unwavering care towards Tracy’s mother, Jennifer, during her battle with cancer.
Tracy shared that Catherine had previously cared for her late husband, Ian, during his own cancer diagnosis, treatment, and passing over a decade ago. Despite this loss, Catherine continued to be a pillar of strength for the family when Jennifer was diagnosed with cancer five years ago. Tracy recounted how Catherine devoted much of her time to be by Jennifer’s side, whether it was for a simple cup of tea, outings, or even weekends away.
In recognition of Catherine’s selfless actions and resilience, Tracy presented her with a bouquet of flowers as a token of appreciation on behalf of their family. Tracy highlighted Catherine’s exceptional ability to balance caring for her own family, volunteering at St Andrew’s Hospice charity shop in Wishaw, and supporting Jennifer through her toughest days.
Tracy reflected on Catherine’s remarkable qualities, emphasising the importance of having someone like Catherine during challenging times. She described Catherine as an “absolute gem” who provided invaluable support and companionship to her mother, demonstrating kindness and compassion in every interaction.
This touching story showcases the power of familial support and the profound impact of selfless acts of kindness during moments of hardship. Catherine’s dedication to her family serves as an inspiring example of strength, compassion, and resilience amidst adversity.
