Man behind bars after conviction for sex offences against victims in Lanarkshire

A man has been sentenced to four and a half years in jail and placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely after being convicted of sex offences against girls in Lanarkshire. Ross McCafferty, 23, received his sentence at Hamilton Sheriff Court, appearing via videolink from custody. The conviction came after a jury found McCafferty guilty of five charges following a trial earlier in the year.
The charges included sexually assaulting a girl aged 11 to 12 in Blantyre between 2020 and 2022, molesting a 16-year-old girl in Stonehouse in 2023, and assaulting another female in Hamilton earlier this year.
