Updated plans for battery storage facility near Plean brought forward for consultation

Plans for a battery storage facility near Stirling have been updated and brought forward for consultation. The UK renewables developer, BOOM Power, will be sharing revised plans for their Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at two public consultation events in Denny and Plean on November 20. The facility, previously known as Gartclush BESS, has been renamed South Plean BESS following feedback from the community to better reflect the site’s location.
The proposed South Plean facility aims to store excess energy from renewable sources and release it into the grid during peak demand periods. This technology is vital in reducing the risk of power outages and can lead to lower energy costs for consumers and the economy. The consultation events will allow the public to review updated plans based on technical studies and community feedback. Information on the project’s community benefit fund will also be shared.
In addition to enhancing grid stability across the central belt, the project is expected to bring economic benefits and job opportunities during the construction and maintenance phases. Members of the project team will be present at the consultation events to answer questions and gather further input from the local community. For those unable to attend, feedback can be provided online from November 20.
The updated plans for the battery storage facility near Stirling demonstrate the commitment to sustainable energy solutions and community engagement. The consultation process ensures transparency and inclusivity, allowing residents to have a say in the development that directly impacts their area. The transition to renewable energy sources and energy storage technologies is crucial in building a more resilient and eco-friendly energy system for the future.
