Vile rapist held terrified victim against her will in Scots flat and tortured XL Bullies

A monstrous rapist has been sentenced for holding a woman against her will in a flat in Scotland and subjecting her to horrendous torture along with two XL Bully dogs. Christian Schonenberger, 22, was found guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh on September 9 for his despicable crimes. In addition to the charges related to the victim, he also pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the two dogs by viciously assaulting them.
The victim endured a year-long nightmare of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at various locations in the Dundee area. Schonenberger employed tactics of isolation, control, and violence to dominate the victim, restricting her freedom, and inflicting severe injuries that left her permanently disfigured. He even prevented her from seeking medical help for her wounds.
Even from prison, Schonenberger continued his onslaught of abuse, attempting to manipulate the victim into retracting her statements to the police and not appearing in court. In response to his depraved acts, he has been given an extended sentence of seven and a half years, with four and a half years to be served in custody. Furthermore, he has been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely and prohibited from owning animals for a decade.
Scotland’s Procurator Fiscal for High Court Sexual Offending, Katrina Parkes, condemned Schonenberger’s actions, highlighting the unimaginable trauma he inflicted on the victim and the dogs. She praised the victim’s courage in coming forward and urged other victims to report similar offences. Parkes affirmed that such behaviour has no place in Scotland and expressed hope that the legal consequences bring some solace to the victim.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of speaking up against abuse and seeking help. It also showcases the justice system’s commitment to holding offenders accountable for their heinous actions and providing support to victims of such crimes.
