Larkhall Academy celebrates pupils’ successes with international tie

Larkhall Academy has introduced a new way to celebrate the achievements of its star pupils, by awarding them with an international tie. The prestigious honour is given to students who have excelled at national and international levels in various academic and sporting fields. The school staff are proud to recognise the exceptional successes of these students, whether it be in sporting events, academic competitions, or other remarkable accomplishments such as achieving top marks in exams.

The distinctive international tie features vertical stripes in the school’s colours along with a Saltire flag, symbolising the students’ outstanding achievements. Recipients of the international tie include individuals like school captain and golfer Fraser Steven, who came third in the world schools’ championship and fifth overall. Another high-achiever is fifth-year footballer Keeley Cerretti, who joined the Lionesses squad at the English Amputee Football Association and has competed in international tournaments in Poland and Colombia.

The international ties have also been awarded to students like Motherwell winger Lucas Weir, Scottish Gymnastics gold medalist Alana Bradshaw, and world go-karting finalist Blair Smith. These students represent a diverse range of talents and accomplishments, showcasing the depth of talent at Larkhall Academy. The school’s honours committee has also recognised students for achievements in judo, athletics, tae kwon-do, and ballet, among other fields.

In addition to sporting achievements, academic excellence is also celebrated at Larkhall Academy. Three pupils who achieved perfect 100 per cent exam scores were acknowledged with the international tie, highlighting the importance of academic success alongside sporting achievements.
