Richard Gadd snubbed at Scottish BAFTAs after three nominations

Richard Gadd, the creator and star of “Baby Reindeer,” has faced disappointment at the Scottish BAFTA awards despite receiving three nominations. Gadd, known for his work on the Netflix series, did not take home any awards on the night. Instead, the spotlight shone on newcomer Ashley Storrie, daughter of the late comedian Janey Godley, who won in two categories where Gadd was also a contender.
Storrie, aged 38, emotionally paid tribute to her mother, who had recently passed away after battling cancer. She won the award for Best Writer for “Dinosaur” and also received the Audience Award for Favourite TV Scot. Storrie expressed her gratitude to all those who supported her, especially the women on Facebook who voted for her.
Hazel Irvine, a renowned sports broadcaster, was honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Television award for her nearly 40-year career. She reminisced about her journey in the industry, starting as one of the UK’s first female football pundits and covering a wide range of sports events throughout her career.
The event also saw other winners like casting director Des Hamilton, the team behind “Catching A Killer: The Murder of Emma Caldwell,” and various actors and directors in both film and television categories. Notable attendees included A Place in the Sun presenter Danni Menzies, Sanjeev Kohli, Dougray Scott, and Kirsty Wark.
The Scottish BAFTA awards celebrated outstanding talent in the industry, with deserving artists and creators being recognised for their contributions across various categories. Despite the ups and downs of the evening, the event highlighted the richness and diversity of talent within Scotland’s entertainment landscape.
