Castle Douglas Flower Club members enjoy festive display at their recent meeting


Castle Douglas Flower Club members recently gathered for a festive display at their latest meeting. The club welcomed a special guest, John Dalton from Cumbria, who impressed the audience with his beautiful Christmas arrangements. The club president, Sheila Pook, introduced John who showcased his “Christmas Greetings” theme.

John’s demonstration featured various stunning floral arrangements. He created a white sleigh topped with greenery like hedera, holly, and Fatsia, along with pink Canterbury bells, gerberas, and carnations. Another arrangement included a mix of dried eucalyptus, holly, fern, kangaroo paw stems, chrysanthemums, and carnations, with a large star made of twigs placed on top. Intricate details like illuminated reindeer, wise men figures, and camels added to the festive charm.

The event was filled with entertainment as John shared amusing stories while showcasing his creations. Following the demonstration, Brownie Wright delivered the vote of thanks, leading to a raffle and refreshments. The upcoming December meeting promises to be a hands-on workshop, offering members a chance to get creative with their floral arrangements.
