Paddy McGuinness received a heartwarming reception in Ecclefechan as he cycled through the village during his Radio 2 300-mile Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge for BBC Children in Need. The 51-year-old, famous for hosting Top Gear, raised an impressive £9,124,609 during his fundraising efforts, with a generous contribution from Scottish philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter.
After being welcomed into Scotland at Gretna Green, Paddy cycled through Kirkpatrick Fleming to Ecclefechan. Along the way, he was cheered on by residents, including students from Hoddam Primary School who sang a special version of the song “(Is This The Way To) Amarillo” with Ecclefechan-themed lyrics. The festive atmosphere was noted by Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball, who praised the village’s spirit during the event.
