Woman marking decade of being cancer-free shares inspirational story as part of Beatson’s Christmas Bauble Appeal

A Lanarkshire woman is celebrating a decade of being cancer-free by sharing her inspirational story as part of the Beatson Cancer Charity’s Christmas Bauble Appeal. Kirstie Storrie, 43, recently reached the milestone of being cancer-free for 10 years after battling thyroid cancer. Beatson Cancer Charity is proud to launch its Bauble Appeal this festive season, aiming to provide support to more cancer patients and their families.
Kirstie’s connection with the charity remains strong as she actively participates in raising awareness and funds for their cause. Not only has Kirstie overcome cancer herself, but she has also supported her mother through breast and ovarian cancer diagnoses and mourned her sister-in-law’s passing due to ovarian cancer. To commemorate her 10-year cancer-free anniversary, Kirstie participated in the Great Scottish Run’s 10k to raise funds for Beatson Cancer Charity.
Reflecting on her journey, Kirstie expressed gratitude towards the charity for the support they provided her and her family. She highlighted the significant impact the charity has had on her life and those close to her, praising their hopeful, encouraging, and supportive nature. Kirstie encourages others to support the Beatson Cancer Charity’s Christmas Bauble Appeal to assist those currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Beatson Cancer Charity’s 10th anniversary celebrations feature stories like Kirstie’s, showcasing the resilience and determination of individuals who have battled cancer. By donating to the Bauble Appeal, supporters can contribute to providing care, love, and hope to families not only during the festive season but beyond. Rachel Mullin, an officer at Beatson Cancer Charity, expressed gratitude for Kirstie’s willingness to share her story and encouraged others to support the charity’s efforts this Christmas.
To show their support for the Beatson Cancer Charity, people can donate to the Bauble Appeal online, via text, or by phone. Every donor will receive two baubles—one for their own tree and one to adorn the Beatson tree, symbolising unity and hope in the face of cancer.
