Iconic Falkirk Kelpies Offers Thrillseekers Chance to Climb 100-foot High Monument in ‘Epic Experience’

The iconic Kelpies structures that loom over the M9 motorway are now opening their doors to keen charity fundraisers and thrillseekers who want to scale the monuments in a truly epic experience. Scottish Canals, in partnership with Zone Events, have launched The Kelpies Experience, Scotland’s newest visitor attraction, offering visitors the unique opportunity to climb safely to the top of the 100-foot high monuments.

The Kelpies, which stand at 98-feet-tall against the Falkirk skyline, are the world’s largest equine sculptures. The new climbing experience will challenge participants to tackle a 25-metre aerial climb that takes them straight to the horse’s mouth. Participants will ascend 25 metres using a series of ladders, cable crossings, suspended platforms, and nets before descending either by abseil or a thrilling quick flight option that simulates free falling before gently lowering them to the ground.

Reaching the Kelpie’s mouth during the climb rewards participants with panoramic views of the Forth & Clyde Canal and the Helix parklands. The attraction not only provides a unique experience but also generates much-needed income for charities and other organisations. Initially, The Kelpies Experience will be available for large group bookings or by signing up for one of the charity fundraiser events.

John Paterson, Scottish Canals’ Chief Executive Officer, expressed excitement about the unique challenge, stating, “This is a truly amazing experience that allows visitors to step inside the magnificent Kelpies, discover the secrets inside, and experience a 25-metre aerial journey straight to the horse’s mouth. Those who enjoy this epic experience will undoubtedly leave with a memory of a lifetime.”

To kick off the event, Scottish Canals partnered with the Beatson Cancer Charity, celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, to be one of the first charities to take part in the challenge. Charlene Low, Regional Fundraising Manager for Beatson Cancer Charity, shared her excitement about the partnership, highlighting the adventure as a fantastic way to commemorate their 10th birthday while raising vital funds for cancer patients and their families.

Enquiries for The Kelpies Experience are now open, with all participants equipped with full-body harnesses and helmets, and always connected to safety cables. Groups of participants will be guided by two professional and friendly guides, with the entire experience lasting around 90 minutes.

In conclusion, The Kelpies Experience offers a thrilling and unforgettable adventure for participants, providing a unique opportunity to climb the iconic monuments and support charitable causes. Visitors are treated to breathtaking views and the chance to explore the majestic Kelpies from a whole new perspective, making it a memorable experience for all involved.
