Elon Musk Says He’s a 3,000-Year-Old Time-Traveling Alien Who Is Trying to Return to His Home Planet

Elon Musk is no stranger to eyebrow-raising statements, but his latest comments have even long-time followers doing a double-take. The Tesla and SpaceX CEO recently claimed—perhaps half-jokingly, perhaps not—that he is a “3,000-year-old time-traveling, vampire alien” attempting to return to his home planet.

The Meme That Started It All

The claim began with a late-night meme Musk posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. At around 2:30 am ET, Musk shared a post that read: “Would you believe it. My neighbor was knocking on my door at 2:30 this morning. Luckily, I was still up, playing my bagpipes.”

The absurdity of the post—bagpipes, a neighbor, and a 2:30 am timestamp—caught fire online, amassing over 7.6 million views. When a user quipped, “You don’t sleep because you’re a vampire?” Musk replied, “I’m a time-traveling vampire!”

It’s worth noting that back in 2020, he also “disclosed” being a “3,000 year old vampire.”

Verified Since 3000 BCE?

Further fueling the online frenzy, an X user pointed out a curious detail in Musk’s profile: it states he has been “verified since 3000 BCE.” The screenshot quickly made the rounds, with the caption: “Elon Musk’s X profile says he has been verified since 3000 BCE. Yesterday, he claimed to be a time-traveling, vampire alien.”

Musk played along once again, responding, “Even though I’m 5000 years old, I think I look much younger.” The detail appears to be a tongue-in-cheek addition by Musk himself, in line with his usual irreverent approach to social media.

Politics, Government Reform, and DOGE

While his supernatural alter ego grabbed the headlines, Musk has also made real-world headlines in recent days. Following Donald Trump’s return to political leadership, Musk was appointed to lead an external organization dubbed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Though not an actual government department, DOGE is expected to review the federal budget and suggest drastic cuts. Musk has already claimed he could reduce government spending by $2 trillion. He described the effort as aiming to send “shockwaves through the system.”

DOGE is set to conclude operations by July 4, 2026—the 250th anniversary of American independence—which Trump has called a “gift” to the country.

Treasury on the Blockchain?

In another notable post, Musk stated his intent to shift the U.S. Treasury to blockchain technology. This would mark a major overhaul of the existing financial system, aligning it more closely with the infrastructure behind cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Dogecoin.

He accused current Treasury officials of approving payments that are either fraudulent or in violation of congressional funding laws, stating bluntly: “This needs to stop now!”

Joke or Just Elon Being Elon?

Musk has long used social media as both a stage and a sandbox—toggling between playful posts, serious policy critiques, and ambitious tech visions. His latest claim of being an ancient, time-traveling alien might be outlandish, but it sits comfortably in the broader ecosystem of his online persona: half-jester, half-strategist.

Whether it’s a coded message, elaborate joke, or just insomnia-fueled banter, one thing is certain: Musk knows how to keep the internet talking.
