Car crashes into police before ‘short pursuit’ and fence smashed as man arrested

A man has been apprehended following a dramatic incident where his vehicle collided with a police car, leading to a brief pursuit and ending with the car crashing into a fence. The events unfolded on Wednesday around 9.20 pm in Kirkcaldy when a silver Vauxhall Astra allegedly struck the police vehicle on St Clair Street.
After the initial collision, the Astra driver accelerated away, prompting a pursuit by the police. The chase culminated in the Astra crashing into a fence on Dunnikier Way near the Asda store in Kirkcaldy. Subsequently, a 41-year-old man was arrested at the scene in connection with road traffic offences. He is set to face legal proceedings and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Inspector James Henry of Fife Road Policing provided a statement regarding the incident, stating, “A short pursuit took place, resulting in the Astra crashing on Dunnikier Way.” He further added, “A 41-year-old man was arrested near the scene in connection with road traffic offences. He will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
