Pitbull that ‘killed’ man caught lunging at face of child on camera days before ‘fatal attack’

A pitbull terrier, named Prince, who allegedly killed a 42-year-old man, was caught on camera lunging at the face of a child just days before the fatal attack. The terrifying incident, which took place on November 18, shows the dog violently jumping on the young boy as he walked home from school. Witnesses described the boy, around seven years old, screaming in fear as his father tried to intervene and protect him from the aggressive animal.
According to a witness who saw the incident unfold, as the boy and his father approached two arguing women with the dog, the pitbull ran straight for the child, attempting to bite his face. Despite the father’s efforts to free his son from the dog’s grip, the animal continued to attack the boy, eventually causing him to be thrown to the ground. Fortunately, the boy appeared to be unharmed but was left shaken by the traumatic experience.
The pitbull, owned by Leanne McDowell, is accused of the fatal attack on Akif Mustaq in Stratford, east London. McDowell appeared in court and faces charges related to owning a dangerously out-of-control dog that resulted in injury and death. She has also been charged with failing to ensure the animal’s welfare and possessing a banned fighting dog. McDowell did not enter any pleas and was granted bail to appear in court at a later date.
Neighbours reported seeing McDowell being escorted out of her property by police in handcuffs following the incident. The community expressed shock and fear over the aggressive behaviour of the dog, describing it as a big and fearsome animal. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding both the attack on the child and the tragic incident that resulted in the man’s death.
In light of this disturbing event, it serves as a sobering reminder of the potential dangers posed by aggressive dogs and the importance of responsible pet ownership. Vigilance and proper management of animals are crucial to prevent such tragic and avoidable incidents from occurring in the future.
