Kind-hearted West Lothian school pupils make sure no child goes without this Christmas

In a heartwarming gesture, compassionate students at Armadale Academy in West Lothian have taken it upon themselves to ensure that no child goes without this Christmas. The students once again rallied behind West Lothian charity River Kids and its toy appeal, urging families to contribute and support those facing hardships during the holiday season.

Led by the S6 charity committee, the school community’s response to the appeal was described as overwhelming by both students and teachers. English teacher Karyn Reilly expressed gratitude for the phenomenal amount of donations received, likely the largest collection to date. Stephen Newman from River Kids echoed this sentiment, acknowledging that the contributions would greatly assist in fulfilling their referrals.

River Kids extended their thanks to Armadale Academy, acknowledging the tireless efforts in coordinating the donation drive. The charity highlighted the remarkable generosity displayed by all who had participated in the project, particularly commending the S6 charity committee for their coordination. The West Lothian Toy Appeal was lauded for bringing out the best in people, fostering a spirit of giving and compassion within the community.

Founded in 2005 by Wendy Simpson and Donny Hughes, River Kids has been dedicated to supporting disadvantaged local children and children’s groups in West Lothian. Over the years, the charity has evolved, providing essential goods, clothing, toys, financial aid, and employment opportunities to those in need. By collaborating with support and social care services, River Kids aims to enhance the quality of life for disadvantaged children and families, nurturing a supportive environment for young people to thrive.

In summary, the benevolent actions of Armadale Academy students exemplify the true spirit of the festive season, demonstrating kindness, empathy, and a willingness to support those less fortunate in the community. Through their collective efforts, they have made a meaningful impact on the lives of children in need, embodying the values of generosity and compassion that define the holiday season.
