Brave Dad Saves Family from Blaze at Scottish Home

In a harrowing ordeal, Bradley Kinnell heroically escaped a raging fire at his home in Edinburgh, Scotland, with his young son in his arms, while his partner and other children were trapped inside the burning building. The terrifying incident unfolded on Wednesday night in Niddrie Mill Crescent, Edinburgh, when flames engulfed the block of flats where the Kinnell family resides.

Ten people were rushed to the hospital after residents were forced to jump from their balconies to escape the inferno that started around 6.30 pm. Firefighters battled the blaze for hours, with medics treating several individuals at the scene before the injured were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Bradley Kinnell recounted the chaotic events, explaining how he sensed the danger when he heard the fire alarm in the distance and smelled smoke. He quickly evacuated his older children and grabbed his two-year-old son, Argyle, as thick smoke filled their home. Despite the perilous situation, Bradley managed to guide his son through the smoke and safely descended the stairs, making a brave leap to the ground with Argyle clutched tightly to his side.

As the fire spread, Bradley’s partner, Nicola, and their other children, Lachlan and Madison, became trapped inside. Despite his initial attempts to re-enter the building to rescue them, the intense smoke thwarted his efforts. With quick thinking, a neighbor provided a mattress, allowing Nicola and the children to jump to safety from a window.

Though the family escaped physical harm, their home suffered extensive smoke damage, leaving clothes and furniture ruined. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated by Bradley’s sister-in-law to aid the family with essential supplies and clothing.

Bradley expressed gratitude for the community’s support and praised the emergency services for their swift response and efforts to ensure everyone’s safety. While the family awaits clearance to return home and assess the damage, they are temporarily staying in a nearby Travelodge.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed the incident, noting that firefighters extinguished the fire in a ground-floor flat within the block of flats. Police Scotland is conducting investigations to determine the cause of the fire and ensure the safety of residents in the area.

As Bradley and his family navigate the aftermath of the blaze, they remain resilient despite the challenges they face in rebuilding their lives and home post-tragedy.
