Dad ‘lucky to be alive’ after freak accident on football pitch leaves him with horror injuries

A Scottish father has described himself as “lucky to be alive” after sustaining severe injuries in a freak accident while playing football. The 30-year-old goalkeeper was representing Carron Huskies against Corstorphine Dynamo in Edinburgh as part of a league promoting fitness among overweight men.

Recalling the incident, Jordan expressed feeling excruciating pain and likened his stomach to “a bag of coins” following the collision. He described the moment of impact, saying, “I felt the full weight of his knee go into my side when we clashed.” After being assisted off the pitch, he was taken to A&E at Forth Valley hospital by his brother Chris. Doctors discovered the seriousness of his injuries, including lacerations to vital organs and multiple fractured ribs.

Fortunately, Jordan did not require surgery despite the severity of his injuries, with doctors emphasising the close call he had. However, less than 24 hours after being discharged, he had to be rushed back to the hospital due to a blood clot in his bladder.
