Dog gives birth to adorable green leading to a very appropriate name for the pooch

A heartwarming story has emerged of a puppy being named Fiona due to her unusual green color at birth. The proud owner, Annise Tooley, a 57-year-old dog enthusiast, has four dogs in her care – two chiweenie pit bulls and two American pit bulls. Recently, the American pit bulls became parents to five adorable puppies, including three males and two females. However, one female puppy stood out with her unique green hue.

Annise shared her surprise at Fiona’s coloring, stating that it is a rare condition that does not harm the puppy at all. She mentioned that typically, the green color fades after a few weeks, but there are cases where it persists. Despite the unusual color, Fiona is described as very healthy and active, often wandering away from her mother and crying when she can’t find her.

The puppies were born on November 3 at Annise’s home in Mississippi, US. While Annise would love to keep all the puppies, she acknowledged that it’s not financially feasible at the moment. As a result, she plans to sell all the puppies except Fiona, for whom she is organizing a raffle.

In a similar instance, a golden retriever gave birth to a rare lime green puppy named Shamrock, whose green coat was attributed to bile in her mother’s womb. The owners, Greg and Carole DeBruler, were initially surprised by Shamrock’s unique color, which didn’t diminish even after attempts to clean it off. Carole, an experienced dog breeder, expressed amazement at the deep green shade of Shamrock, attributing it to contact with biliverdin in the womb.

Carole highlighted that while it’s not uncommon for light-colored puppies to have some green tint at birth, Shamrock’s coloring was exceptionally distinct. Despite the initial surprise, Shamrock’s fur has since faded, leaving her as a delightful addition to the DeBruler family.
