Drivers in Dumfries and Galloway warned to expect delays as roadworks to begin on key road

Drivers in Dumfries and Galloway have been cautioned to brace for potential delays as roadworks are set to commence on a vital route in the region. Amey, the highways maintenance company, will be initiating resurfacing works on a section of the A75 between Minigaff and Newton Stewart. The roadworks will involve implementing a convoy system from 7 pm to 6 am every night starting from Tuesday, December 3, until Friday, December 6, and then again from Monday, December 9, to Friday, December 13.

During the roadworks, when the maintenance work extends to the junction of Euroroute with the A712, motorists are advised to utilise the A714 Wigtown road as an alternative route. An Amey spokeswoman highlighted the significance of the scheme stating, “This project aims to enhance the road conditions for daily commuters, reducing the necessity for extensive future maintenance.”

Motorists are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and allow for extra travel time during the specified dates. The resurfacing works aim to improve the overall quality of the A75 route, ensuring smoother and safer travels for all road users.
