Expressions of interest invited as rotary club launches new tech hub for Prestwick Airport

Expressions of interest are being sought as the Rotary Club launches a new tech hub for Prestwick Airport in Ayrshire. The hub, named the ‘Whetstone Tech Workshop Entrepreneurial Hub,’ aims to attract aspiring entrepreneurs in the tech industry. Successful applicants will receive guidance, support, and the opportunity to develop their business ventures.

Ieuan Isaac from the Rotary Club of Ayr outlined the two main criteria for applicants. Firstly, the hub will be located at Prestwick Airport, and secondly, the club is calling for ‘expressions of interest’ from potential candidates after releasing an ‘Invitation Video.’ The video aims to encourage computer-literate individuals interested in entrepreneurship to apply for this unique opportunity.

The initiative has garnered government support, with MSP Richard Lochhead, the minister for business, featuring in the invitation video. Mike Stewart, Director of Storm Aviation, also expressed support for the initiative, highlighting the accessibility of the hub for individuals interested in the aviation industry.

Prospective candidates are required to provide their full name, email address, contact number, a brief bio showcasing their computer skills, and a statement outlining their goals and reasons for applying, within 100 words. Applications can be submitted by emailing the necessary information to whetstoneayr@gmail.com after viewing the invitation video using the provided QR code.

Selected applicants will be invited for interviews to discuss terms and conditions for participation in the program. The initiative aims to provide a platform for young entrepreneurs to kickstart their tech-based businesses in a collaborative workspace with easy transport access.

In conclusion, the Rotary Club’s new tech hub initiative at Prestwick Airport presents a promising opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs in Ayrshire. With government support and a focus on fostering technology-driven businesses, the hub is set to empower and inspire the next generation of tech innovators in the region.
