Fifty years on former London art students reach out to find friend from Rutherglen

Former London Art Students on 50-Year Reunion Search for Rutherglen Friend

A group of former art students, known as the ‘Class of 74’ from St Martin’s, are reaching out to reconnect with a friend from Rutherglen who emigrated to Australia. Val Fox, a former student at St Martin’s School of Art in London, is leading the search for Christina Fisher, who was part of their art school cohort. The group of 26 students attended the London art school together between 1971 and 1974. Half of the group has been located and reunited 50 years on, but Christina is one of the remaining thirteen friends they are still looking for to gather during their 50th anniversary year.

Christina, also known as Chris to her classmates, would be approximately 72 years old now and is believed to have moved to Australia after getting married. Val described Christina as a “flaming redhead” and noted that she may have a different surname after getting married. However, there is a possibility that she might have returned to Scotland over the years.

Val Fox shared, “We’ve reunited for our 50th anniversary but we’re trying to find the other thirteen, including Chris. We’ve run out of ideas so this is probably our last chance.” She added, “I’m hoping that maybe readers will recognise Chris from what we know or her picture, or even better, know where she is now and can put us in touch with each other after all this time.”

If anyone has any information that could help locate Christina Fisher, they are encouraged to contact news@rutherglenreformer.co.uk.

The search for Christina Fisher highlights the enduring friendships formed during art school and the importance of reconnecting with old friends after many years. It showcases the power of shared experiences and the desire to reminisce and celebrate milestones together, even after decades have passed.

In a world where connections are easily lost, this story serves as a reminder of the enduring bonds that can withstand the test of time and distance. It emphasizes the value of friendship and the joy that comes from reuniting with those who shared formative experiences in our lives.
