Folk music club signs up ukulele orchestra for their latest concert night in Ayr

A folk music club in Ayr has secured the Dalrymple Ukulele Orchestra for their upcoming concert night. The D.U.O. is set to perform at the Market Inn on Castlehill Road in Ayr on Tuesday, December 3, promising an evening that will be unforgettable for attendees.

The Ayr Phoenix Folk Club, host of the event, announced the orchestra’s performance at the Abbotsford Hotel on Corsehill Road. The club’s spokesperson shared the orchestra’s humble beginnings, recounting how they received a standing ovation at their first performance in the Tam O’ Shanter bar during festivities for the Ayr Races.

The Dalrymple Ukulele Orchestra has since been invited to various festivals, concerts, and events, even providing music for a bride as she walked down the aisle. The group’s journey began nine years ago at a New Year’s party in Dalrymple, where founder Karen arrived with a ukulele and ignited a spark of musical interest among attendees.

The concert night will also feature support from floor singers of Ayr Phoenix Folk Club. Doors will open at 7 pm for a 7.30 pm start, with tickets available at the door for £9 in cash only.
