Galloway Food Hub in Dalry Receives Funding Boost
A social enterprise in Dalry, the Galloway Food Hub, has recently been granted a funding boost of £5,000 from the Scotland Food and Drink Partnership’s Regional Food Fund. The aim of the project is to enhance access to local and sustainable food within the community. The hub strives to offer a variety of local, seasonal, and environmentally friendly food options in one convenient location, with a particular focus on providing better access to food for rural communities.
Managed by Scotland Food and Drink, the Regional Food Fund supports projects that promote and sell produce from their respective regions, thereby fostering regional growth. The Galloway Food Hub CIC is among nearly 20 projects in Scotland that have received funding from this initiative. Fiona Richmond, the head of regional food at Scotland Food and Drink, expressed excitement about supporting collaborative food and drink projects that enhance local initiatives crucial to the growth of Scotland’s food, drink, and tourism industries.
The Rural Affairs Secretary Mairi Gougeon praised Scotland’s food and drink industry, highlighting its significant contribution to the economy and local communities. She emphasised the importance of the Regional Food Fund in providing essential support to local businesses, producers, and community groups to showcase the best regional products.
