Stirling and Surrounding Areas Honour Fallen War Heroes on Remembrance Sunday

Stirling and its surrounding areas are set to pay tribute to the region’s fallen war heroes this weekend. The annual Remembrance Sunday service will take place in the city centre at the Church of the Holy Rude at 10.45am on November 10. Following the service, there will be a parade towards the Cenotaph for the laying of wreaths, with the procession moving through St John Street, Spittal Street, and Corn Exchange Road.

Lord Provost Elaine Watterson expressed the city’s proud connection with the armed forces community and welcomed everyone to join in paying their respects to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. In addition to the city centre service, villages and communities across Stirling will also be holding their own services to honour the fallen heroes.

In Balfron and Fintry, a Remembrance Service at Balfron War Memorial will commence at 10.50am, followed by a church service at 11.15am. Buchlyvie will hold an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 10.50am, with a service at 11.30am. Aberfoyle will have a short Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 10.55am, followed by a service in the church around 11.15am.

Other areas such as Callander, Drymen, Gartmore, Inversnaid, Killearn, Kinlochard, Kippen, and Port of Menteith will also be holding their own Remembrance Day services to honour the fallen war heroes.

The community events aim to bring people together to remember and honour the sacrifices made by those who served their country. The acts of remembrance, prayers, and services are a way for the community to express their gratitude and respect for the bravery and courage shown by the fallen heroes.
