‘I’m a recruiter – this Google hack finds best jobs that aren’t listed on major sites’

An expert in recruitment has revealed a clever trick to uncover job opportunities that might not be advertised on major job sites. Lee Harding, with almost 20 years of experience in the recruitment industry, highlights that some employers do not list all their job vacancies on popular job boards. In a TikTok video, Lee explains that platforms like LinkedIn, Monster, and Total Jobs can be expensive for companies to advertise on. Instead, many companies post their job openings on their own careers websites. To help job seekers uncover these hidden opportunities, Lee shared a Google hack to find jobs based on location by searching specific websites.

By entering a “search string” on Google, job seekers can find job listings on various Applicant Tracking Systems (ATSs) and careers websites. For example, typing in “site:icims.com “marketing manager” “London” can uncover all marketing manager roles in London listed on the iCIMS website. Lee suggests replacing ‘London’ with your preferred location and ‘marketing manager’ with the job title you are looking for. This way, job seekers can discover jobs that may not be featured on popular job boards, providing them with a wider range of opportunities to explore.

The response to Lee’s advice has been positive, with followers expressing gratitude for the helpful tip. Many have found the technique valuable in their job search and plan to try it out to discover hidden job listings. Sharing insights into his own career journey, Lee emphasises the importance of exploring different paths within the recruitment industry. From starting in agency recruitment to co-founding a recruitment tech business and leading talent acquisition teams globally, Lee’s experience underscores the diverse opportunities available within the recruitment sector.

In a competitive job market where not all vacancies are advertised on major job sites, Lee Harding’s Google hack offers a valuable tool for job seekers to uncover hidden job opportunities based on their preferences and locations. By utilising this technique, individuals can expand their job search beyond traditional job boards and increase their chances of finding the perfect job match. Lee’s expert advice serves as a reminder to job seekers to explore alternative methods in their job search and consider all possible avenues to secure their desired roles.
