Jake Paul slammed by Tony Bellew for breaking major rule in Mike Tyson fight

Tony Bellew Criticises Jake Paul for Violating Rules in Fight Against Mike Tyson

Jake Paul has come under fire from former boxer Tony Bellew for wearing heavily padded “full on punchers gloves” during his recent victory against 58-year-old boxing legend Mike Tyson. The social media personality turned boxer took on Tyson in Texas over the weekend, promising fans that he would knock out the former heavyweight champion. However, the fight ended with Paul winning by decision in a largely one-sided match that went the distance, with Tyson landing only 18 punches in total.

Bellew, a former WBC cruiserweight champion, took to Twitter to express his outrage at the choice of gloves, highlighting the significant advantage they gave Paul over Tyson. He criticised the bout for being allowed to happen in the first place, blaming everyone who watched and talked about it. Despite his strong words against Paul, Bellew did acknowledge the YouTuber’s decision to show restraint during the fight and not go for a knockout, especially considering Tyson’s age.

Both Tyson and Paul have since been suspended following the professional event. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, overseeing the fight, has mandated a rest period for both fighters, requiring them to rest for three days for every round fought. This means both Tyson and Paul will have to rest for a total of 24 days. Looking ahead, Paul is eyeing a match with Canelo Álvarez, while Tyson has called out his brother, Logan, for a future fight.

Bellew’s comments highlight the controversy surrounding the Paul-Tyson fight and raise questions about fair play and respect in the sport of boxing. It serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding integrity and sportsmanship in all levels of competition.
