New Group Launches to Improve Information Access in South Ayrshire
A new initiative, Connect South Ayrshire, has been introduced to facilitate easier access to information, advice, and support for communities in South Ayrshire. The project, a collaboration between South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) and Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA), aims to enhance accessibility through a public website, a free phoneline, and the establishment of community hubs across South Ayrshire.
The official launch of Connect South Ayrshire took place on November 1, marking the opening of the first community hub on the Sandgate in Ayr town centre. Simultaneously, a dedicated website and phoneline were unveiled. This new platform will provide not only information and advice but also social opportunities and support for wellbeing. Tim Eltringham, Director of Health and Care, emphasised the importance of integrating various services to ensure accessible support for all communities in South Ayrshire.
The Connect model focuses on prevention, community engagement, and wellbeing, offering a comprehensive range of services at the Ayr hub. Alongside HSCP and VASA services, partners such as the Carers Gateway, Ayr Housing Aid Centre, and Age Concern are also involved in the initiative. Marie Oliver, CEO of Voluntary Action South Ayrshire, expressed enthusiasm for the project’s preventive approach and commitment to tailoring services to suit individual community needs.
Following the initial launch, efforts will continue to expand the resources available through Connect South Ayrshire by collaborating with local and national organisations. A dedicated team will ensure that information remains current and accessible. To access Connect South Ayrshire, individuals can visit the website, call the provided phoneline, or visit the Ayr hub located at 53 Sandgate, Ayr town centre.
In summary, Connect South Ayrshire aims to revolutionize information accessibility and support services for communities in South Ayrshire by establishing community hubs, a public website, and a free phoneline. The initiative’s preventive focus and collaborative approach demonstrate a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of individuals across the region. By fostering community engagement and providing tailored support, Connect South Ayrshire seeks to enhance overall wellbeing and accessibility for all residents.
