P-p-p-pick up a map and join Stirling city centre’s ‘penguin’ trail around local shops this Christmas

Families in Stirling city centre can embark on a festive adventure this Christmas by participating in the ‘Penguin Trail’. The trail, organized by Go Forth Stirling Business Improvement District (BID), involves finding and reuniting a group of penguins scattered across the city. Participants can follow the story of Chilly the Penguin and his colony, who have become separated and drifted away on an iceberg.

The trail, named ‘Chilly’s Family Reunion’, guides families to 15 different shops in the city centre where a penguin is painted in the window. The penguins, with names like Ice Cube, Halle Brrry, Penguini Alfredo, and Hopper Potter, are part of hand-painted festive scenes by local signwriter Ross Hastie. To take part, families can pick up a map from Central Library, Made In Stirling store, or download it online.

Various city centre businesses are participating in the Penguin Trail, offering promotions and activities to enhance the experience. From a colouring station at Clan Artisan to letters to Santa at Tinkerbell’s Emporium, there are plenty of festive treats along the way. Once the trail is completed, participants can drop off their map at Santa’s Post Box at the Go Forth Stirling office for a chance to win a prize.

Josie Brown, Events Co-ordinator at Go Forth Stirling, expressed the hope that families will embrace the festive spirit and enjoy exploring the city centre. The Penguin Trail not only provides entertainment but also highlights the diverse shops, cafes, and restaurants Stirling has to offer. Following the success of last year’s Gingerbread Trail, the Penguin Trail aims to engage families and support local businesses during the holiday season.
