Perth and Kinross Council now exploring options on how to tackle static caravan planning breach in Perth

Perth and Kinross Council is currently exploring new options to address a planning breach related to a static caravan parked in a Perth cul-de-sac without permission for almost two years. Despite the council previously closing the case in April 2024, after serving an enforcement notice in October 2023, they have now decided to reconsider how to proceed with the situation. Neighbours were surprised to see the static caravan appear on a Letham driveway in February 2023, prompting several complaints to the planning department.

After a lengthy process, the council concluded in October 2023 that a planning breach had occurred and issued an enforcement notice requiring the caravan’s removal by December 7, 2023. However, as the deadline passed without compliance, the council opted not to take direct action, stating it was not deemed necessary at that time. This decision left residents like Diane Short feeling frustrated, as they believed the caravan’s presence could impact property values and the overall appeal of the area.

The occupant of the property with the static caravan claimed to have planning permission, but the council confirmed that no such permission was granted. Consequently, they are now considering alternative approaches to address the breach in accordance with their Planning Enforcement Charter. Councillor John Rebbeck expressed involvement in the case and hopes for a resolution to be reached soon.

In light of this ongoing situation, it is evident that proper planning procedures must be followed to maintain the integrity of residential areas and uphold property values. The council’s commitment to exploring new options demonstrates the importance of upholding planning regulations and addressing breaches promptly to ensure a harmonious community environment.

With the council revisiting this issue, residents and stakeholders will be keen to see a resolution that aligns with planning regulations and addresses any potential impacts on the local community. As the story continues to develop, it highlights the significance of adhering to planning laws and the role of local authorities in maintaining the aesthetics and standards of residential areas.
