Scots cocaine smuggler faces long sentence after being snared outside village pub with £42m haul

A Scottish man involved in a cocaine smuggling operation faces a lengthy prison sentence after being caught with a £42m haul outside a village pub in Yorkshire. Along with his co-defendants, Moran was apprehended at a pub in the village of Lelley, where they were staying overnight after the drug pickup.

During the trial, Moran denied the charges of conspiracy to import cocaine, but he was ultimately found guilty by a jury. His accomplice, Anthony McAllister, was cleared of charges, while another co-conspirator, Colombian national Didier Reyes, had already pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import cocaine. The prosecution detailed how the group had acquired a fishing boat, travelled out into the North Sea, and returned to shore near Easington Beach Caravan Park to transport the cocaine in a van.
