Scots coke fiend stabbed young mum 45 times before leaving her to die among kids toys

A Scottish drug addict brutally stabbed a young mother 45 times, leaving her to die surrounded by children’s toys, as revealed by a court hearing. The court in Edinburgh found that Michael Porchetta fatally attacked Aimee Cannon by stabbing her in the stomach, chest, neck, and head. The 28-year-old inflicted multiple clean-cut wounds on her scalp as well. Aimee, a 26-year-old beautician, was discovered by her father the day after the incident, laying lifeless in her home in West Calder, West Lothian.

During the examination of facts hearing, which took place after Porchetta was declared unfit to stand trial, it was disclosed that Aimee had defensive wounds on her hands. A disturbing video shown in court depicted Aimee’s body in the blood-spattered flat, causing distress among family and friends present in the gallery. A tattoo on her body stating ‘One life one chance’ was visible during the heartbreaking scene.

Porchetta initially denied any involvement in Aimee’s death, spending three days avoiding suspicions. However, his sister discovered blood on his jeans, prompting him to confess to authorities. The charges against Porchetta include murder, theft of Aimee’s personal belongings, and attempting to obstruct justice by disposing of evidence and cleaning his shoes. The prosecution revealed that Aimee suffered at least 45 stab wounds and additional cut wounds on her scalp and hands, according to a post mortem report.

Forensic scientist Laura Wilcock testified that Aimee’s body was found among children’s toys, indicating the heinous nature of the crime. Witnesses recounted Porchetta’s behaviour before and after the incident, including his drug abuse struggles and attempts to deceive his family about Aimee’s fate. The court also heard accounts of Porchetta making romantic advances towards Aimee, which she rejected.

The trial, overseen by judge Lord Mulholland, continues as more evidence is presented to determine the circumstances surrounding Aimee’s tragic death. The heinous nature of this crime has shocked the community and raised concerns about drug abuse and violence among young individuals, highlighting the importance of mental health support and early intervention. Such incidents serve as a somber reminder of the devastating consequences of drug addiction and the need for societal interventions to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
