On Monday, February 19, Nicol attempted to dodge police in his Volkswagen Golf, leading officers on a dangerous pursuit. Despite his efforts, police were able to detain him and discovered 13 packages of Class A drugs in his vehicle, valued at £2,447,900. Nicol pleaded guilty to being involved in the supply of cocaine and dangerous driving at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday, October 25.

He was sentenced at the High Court in Inverness and faces confiscation action under Proceeds of Crime legislation to recover illegally obtained funds. Police had been monitoring Nicol’s Golf on the A90 from Perth to Dundee suspecting drug trafficking. Attempts to stop him using a stinger were made near the Swallow roundabout in Dundee before his arrest.

Despite the police’s efforts to signal him to stop, Nicol continued driving recklessly, swerving through traffic and eventually hitting the stinger which punctured his tyres. After driving at speeds of up to 80mph and running a red light, he was apprehended. The Crown and Procurator Fiscal Service deemed this a successful prosecution that removed a significant quantity of drugs from circulation.

Moira Orr, leading on major crimes, emphasized the importance of collaboration between police and other agencies to combat drug trafficking which destroys lives and communities. Detective Inspector Julia Ogilvie of the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Unit North highlighted the dangers of drug trafficking and emphasized police efforts to disrupt organized crime networks.

In conclusion, the successful apprehension and prosecution of Dylan Nicol highlight the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in combating drug trafficking and organized crime. The swift action taken to intercept Nicol and the recovery of the substantial amount of cocaine demonstrate a commitment to protecting communities from the harmful effects of drug trafficking.
