Scots woman on bail for driving at cops smashed into six cars day after released

A Scottish woman out on bail for driving at police officers was involved in a collision with six cars just a day after being released from prison. Katie Reid, who had never passed a driving test, had been sentenced to six months in prison on October 2 and banned from driving for three years. She narrowly avoided a head-on collision with a police car as she drove recklessly across a field, leading to her imprisonment. Reid appealed against her sentence, and the Appeal Court released her on bail on October 11. However, she quickly resumed driving and caused chaos in the city centre by crashing her brand new £30,000 MG HS Trophy Auto into several vehicles, including a Citroen Relay van, a Volvo, a Fiat Panda, a Volvo C30, and a Rover Maestro.
After damaging the cars, she continued to drive on the wrong side of the road until crashing into a garden. Following this incident, Reid’s bail was revoked. Subsequently, she appeared in court from custody and admitted to dangerous driving on October 12 in Perth. Sheriff Neil Kinnear imposed an interim driving ban and deferred sentencing for further reports and a restriction of liberty assessment. In a separate incident on July 29, Reid undertook an unmarked police car at high speed, driving almost three times over the speed limit and endangering other road users. She also failed to provide a breath specimen when stopped by police.
Reid had a history of reckless driving, including a previous incident where she drove with cocaine in her system and was fined £450 and banned from driving for a year. Despite these convictions, she continued to engage in dangerous driving behaviour. The situation highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the potential consequences for public safety.
In summary, Katie Reid’s reckless driving behaviour, despite prior convictions and bans, demonstrates a concerning disregard for road safety and a pattern of dangerous behaviour. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving and the potentially severe consequences of reckless actions behind the wheel. It also underscores the need for stricter enforcement of driving regulations to protect the public from such dangerous drivers.
