Second digital image competition of the season at Motherwell Photographic Society


The Motherwell Photographic Society recently held its second digital image competition of the season, with the judging taking place at a club meeting. The competition was judged by Gavin Forrest from the Carluke Camera Club, who provided feedback on each image before assigning a score out of 20. There was a high standard of photography on display, and Gavin was impressed by the quality of the entries.

The winning image, titled “Into the Unknown,” was captured by Linda Greenhill and scored a perfect 20 out of 20. In joint second place were images by Linda Greenhill (“Intensity”), Rodger Shearer (“Mummy’s Fur Coat”), and Dominic Smith (“Jersey Pullers”). Coming in joint third were entries by Dominic Smith (“End of the Shift”), Margaret Dewar (“Catch of the Day”), and Rodger Shearer (“The Birks of Aberfeldy”).

Vice President Rodger Shearer expressed gratitude to Gavin for his time and valuable feedback. The next meeting, scheduled for Thursday, November 14, will feature guest speaker Allan Bovill, a professional photographer from Glasgow. The society meets on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm in Holytown Community Centre and welcomes photography enthusiasts of all levels. Membership costs £30 annually, with a £2 weekly fee for meetings that includes refreshments.

Aspiring photographers are encouraged to attend the Motherwell Photographic Society meetings to learn, share, and engage with fellow enthusiasts. The society provides a supportive environment for photographers to improve their skills and showcase their work while networking with like-minded individuals.
