South Lanarkshire scooterists to join forces in Ride of Remembrance this weekend

South Lanarkshire scooter clubs are coming together for a poignant event this weekend. The Incognito Scooter Club, based in East Kilbride, will be teaming up with the High Numbers scooter enthusiasts from Cambuslang for their annual Ride of Remembrance in support of Veterans charity Erskine Hospital. With more than 40 riders participating, this Saturday’s event, scheduled for November 9, promises to be a moving tribute.

According to Incognito member Alastair McMillan, the club was established in March of this year to unite the many scooter enthusiasts in East Kilbride. Currently boasting around 300 members, Incognito will be participating in the Remembrance Ride alongside High Numbers to mark Remembrance Day and raise funds for the Veterans charity.

The route for the Ride of Remembrance will commence with High Numbers departing from The Black Bull in Cambuslang, heading to The Leeburn in East Kilbride to meet up with Incognito. The convoy will then visit various war memorials, including the East Kilbride war memorial on Graham Avenue, Cambuslang Cenotaph, Rutherglen Cenotaph, Bridgeton war memorial at Glasgow Green, Alexander Park war memorial, RHF monument at Glasgow Cathedral, and concluding at the Cenotaph in Glasgow’s George Square. All participants are encouraged to pay their respects, and those wishing to lay crosses or wreaths at the memorials are welcome to do so.

Additionally, each scooterist taking part will be contributing a minimum of £5 towards the chosen charity. Following this event, Incognito will lead another ride to East Kilbride cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, November 10, starting at The Leeburn and making stops at The Cameronians Memorial in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park and Auchentibber Memorial.

For those interested in supporting the cause directly, donations can be made to the charity through erskine.org.uk/. More information about the clubs can be found on the Incognito Scooter Club Facebook page or facebook.com/highnumberssc.
