Stretch of motorway near Denny could close for more than four days as workers carry out drainage repairs

A section of the M876 motorway near Denny is expected to be closed for more than four days to conduct essential drainage repairs. The closure will affect the slip road exiting the northbound M876 at Junction 1, with works scheduled to commence at 9.30 am on Monday, December 2. During this period, northbound traffic aiming to exit at Junction 1 will be redirected to Junction 2, where they can return southbound to exit via the M876 Junction 1 southbound off-slip. This detour is anticipated to add approximately four miles and five minutes to affected journeys.

BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, Tommy Deans, highlighted the necessity of these drainage repairs before resurfacing works planned for later in December. A recent drainage survey identified a fracture requiring excavation and repair, though the full extent of necessary works will only be confirmed upon surface excavation. To ensure the safety of road users and workers, the slip road will remain closed throughout the repairs. While efforts will be made to complete the works sooner, the closure may extend until Friday afternoon on December 6. Stakeholders have been informed in advance of these plans to minimize disruptions.

The completion of the repairs is contingent on weather conditions, and any adverse weather may result in postponements or cancellations of the works. Motorists and the local community are urged to exercise patience and understanding during this period of necessary maintenance on the M876 motorway near Denny.

In summary, a stretch of the M876 motorway at Junction 1 near Denny will undergo over four days of closure for drainage repairs starting December 2. Motorists should anticipate delays and follow diversion routes to ensure smooth travel during this essential maintenance period. Remember to stay informed about any updates or changes due to weather conditions impacting the repair schedule.
