Strictly Come Dancing: Meet JB Gill, the JLS star taking to the floor

JB Gill, former JLS star, is set to showcase his fancy footwork on the upcoming 20th anniversary series of Strictly Come Dancing. Following in the footsteps of his bandmate Aston Merrygold, Gill is among the 15 celebrities gearing up to hit the ballroom dance floor.

The 37-year-old shot to stardom in 2008 with JLS, a boyband that captured hearts with hits like “Beat Again”, “Everybody in Love”, and “One Shot”. After the band’s split in 2012, they reunited in 2020, releasing their fourth album in 2021 and embarking on a UK tour.

Apart from his music career, Gill has found success as a TV presenter, appearing on shows like BBC’s Songs of Praise and Channel 5’s Holiday Homes in the Sun. He also runs a farm in Kent where he resides with his family.

Gill previously won the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special in 2012, showcasing his jive skills. Excited about joining this year’s competition, Gill expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I danced in the Strictly Christmas special over a decade ago and loved it, so when I got the call to join Strictly this year, it was an immediate yes from me.”

As the competition marks its 20th anniversary, it also aims to cultivate a more supportive environment for contestants in the wake of recent allegations. The production team has introduced measures like chaperones in rehearsal rooms to ensure the well-being of participants.

Gill’s journey from the farm to the dance floor promises to bring a blend of rural charm and glitzy sequins to this year’s Strictly Come Dancing, as fans eagerly anticipate his performances.
