Hadi Atti, 19, has also been ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid community work and faces a four-month home curfew due to an electronic tagging order. The incident, which occurred on Main Street in Coatbridge on December 17 the previous year, saw Atti admit to the assault that resulted in severe injury and permanent disfigurement of the victim.

The attack took place around 1 am when the victim, who was unknown to Atti, was making his way to a taxi rank after a night out. Police officers witnessed the assault, where Atti punched the victim twice on the head, causing him to fall unconscious. Despite the victim being incapacitated, Atti continued the attack by kicking and punching him until the officers intervened and administered first aid while waiting for an ambulance to arrive. The victim was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment, where a cut to his eyebrow was stitched up and no abnormal neurological issues were detected.
