Three bodies found by Egypt boat rescuers after tourist ship capsized in Red Sea

Three bodies have been recovered by rescuers after a tourist boat capsized off the coast of Egypt, with 13 individuals still missing. The Governor of the Red Sea region, Amr Hanafi, provided the tragic update. Among the tourists on board the vessel were individuals from various countries including the UK, US, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, China, Finland, Slovakia, Spain, and Ireland. The identities of the recovered bodies have not been disclosed yet. The boat, known as the Sea Story, was on a diving excursion with 44 people on board when the tragic incident occurred. According to reports, 28 individuals were rescued by the emergency crews.

A distress call was sent from the yacht, which had departed from Marsa Alam for a five-day diving trip, early in the morning on Monday. Hanafi explained that based on eyewitness accounts, a “high sea wave” struck the vessel, causing it to capsize within a matter of minutes. Some passengers were trapped inside the cabins, leading to difficulties in exiting the boat, as mentioned in his Facebook statement. Travel trade organisation Abta has been in touch with its members to determine if any customers were affected by the incident.
