Trip to ASDA turns into ‘worst nightmare’ after family film night

A routine trip to the supermarket turned into a nightmare for one family after a cosy family film night. Samantha Rylance and her partner Callum took their two children to ASDA for treats on Saturday evening. However, what was meant to be a fun outing turned tragic when their six-year-old son, Kaelen, collided with a roll cage in the aisles, resulting in a severe head injury.

Samantha, who is also 23 weeks pregnant, described the harrowing experience as something out of a horror film. Kaelen sustained a deep gash on his head, causing a lot of blood loss. The family was overwhelmed by the swift response of the Asda staff who assisted them during the crisis. Samantha expressed her gratitude towards the staff, particularly mentioning a pharmacy worker who stopped everything to help them.

The mother shared her feelings of helplessness during the incident, referring to it as her worst nightmare. She praised the kindness of strangers who came forward to offer support, including calming her older son who has autism. The security guard played a crucial role in managing the situation and contacting emergency services.

Reflecting on the traumatic event, Samantha emphasised the importance of swift action and the impact of community support during times of crisis. The family’s evening took an unexpected turn, underscoring the unpredictable nature of life even in ordinary settings like a supermarket.

In conclusion, the unforeseen accident serves as a reminder of how quickly circumstances can change and the vital role that compassion and quick thinking play in averting further harm. It highlights the importance of staying vigilant, especially when children are involved, and the significance of community aid in times of distress.
