Woman shocked as lost cat returns five years later and looks unrecognisable

A British woman was left astonished when her missing cat returned after five years, looking completely different than before. Janine Yarrell, aged 44, had lost her beloved cat Bubba five years ago when the cat was just seven years old. Despite launching a social media appeal at the time, there was no success in finding Bubba. However, to her surprise, Bubba reappeared at their home in Ashford, Kent, looking unrecognisable at the age of 12. It is believed that Bubba had been living as a stray on the streets since 2019.

Bubba was found hiding under a car near Janine’s home after a local resident posted a photo of the cat on Facebook. Overwhelmed with joy, Janine expressed disbelief at the sight of Bubba and immediately checked her microchip details, confirming the cat’s identity. Despite Bubba’s rough appearance with matted fur, Janine plans to have her checked by a vet, noting that she is in relatively good shape for having lived on the streets for five years. Janine encouraged other pet owners to ensure their pets’ microchip details are up to date, emphasizing never to lose hope.

The heartwarming reunion serves as a reminder of the importance of microchipping pets and the possibility of being reunited with lost furry friends even after an extended period. This miraculous return of Bubba after five years highlights the strong bond between humans and their pets, bringing joy and hope to pet owners everywhere.
