Work completed on new £3.2million railway improvements to West Highland Line

Network Rail has announced the completion of a £3.2 million project to enhance the West Highland Line connecting Glasgow to the Highlands. The extensive works included renewing tracks, refurbishing structures, and improving drainage along the line.

The project, which was finished on time, involved round-the-clock work by Network Rail engineers over a four-day period between Craigendoran and Crianlarich. Specific tasks included track renewal, replacing switches and crossings at Craigendoran, and replacing over a mile of railway between Helensburgh Upper and Glen Falloch.

Additionally, a bridge at Garelochhead was refurbished, geotechnical engineers conducted earthworks inspections, and replacement buses were provided for passengers during the closure.
