Accies-supporting Musician Boosts Player’s Movember Efforts with Festive Record

Hamilton Academical player Reghan Tumilty received a generous boost for his Movember fundraising campaign from a dedicated fan and talented musician. Iona Sky, a supporter of New Douglas Park, is the lead singer of the band After You. Together, they have produced a four-track Christmas EP, with all proceeds from the limited-edition CD sales going towards Tumilty’s fourth annual fundraiser in aid of men’s health.

Iona Sky, an 18-year-old music student at New College Lanarkshire, was eager to collaborate with her favourite Accies player to support his Movember appeal. The EP contains covers of popular Christmas songs like Kelly Clarkson’s “Underneath the Tree,” “Just Like Christmas,” “Last Christmas,” and “Christmas on the Road.” The release is available digitally and on 150 individually-numbered CDs signed by Reghan Tumilty.

The duo, Iona and Alasdair Napier of After You, formed their partnership a year ago in support of Hue and Cry. Their music video for the lead track “Underneath the Tree” has already garnered hundreds of views. Limited-edition CDs are offered for £5 and can be obtained by contacting the band through their social media platforms.

Iona expressed her enthusiasm for supporting Reghan’s charity work, stating, “As an Accies fan, it’s great to support the work Reghan is doing, and having worked with him on his 2023 appeal, we were keen to support it again this year.” The band’s previous song, “Headspace,” focused on supporting youth struggling with mental health issues.

After a successful performance supporting Hue and Cry in November 2023, Iona and Alasdair have continued to perform at various events and festivals. They plan to release new material in the coming year and have scheduled a performance at Hamilton Accies. Additionally, they will be participating in a fundraising concert at Paisley Abbey on December 7 to support the cancer charity Rainbow Valley.

Reghan Tumilty initiated his Movember challenge four years ago while playing for Raith Rovers, aiming to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, including mental health, suicide prevention, prostate, and testicular cancer. Over the years, with the support of family, friends, fans, and online donors, he has raised more than £12,000 through various fundraising activities.

This collaboration between the musician and the footballer not only showcases the spirit of community support but also highlights the power of music and sports coming together for a good cause.
