Airdrie Working Men’s Club is set to welcome snooker legend John Higgins for a special showcase event on December 6. The four-time World Snooker Champion, hailing from Lanarkshire, will be showcasing his skills against eight Monklands residents at the Broomknoll Street venue. The event aims to raise funds for the club’s progression and also collect donations for St Andrew’s Hospice.

John Higgins, known as the ‘Wizard of Wishaw’, is renowned for his snooker success, having secured multiple World Titles and UK Opens. The event is organised by Pat McKinney, a friend of Higgins who has played a role in revitalising the club’s snooker arena. Higgins himself has a personal connection to St Andrew’s Hospice, making this event meaningful on multiple levels.

The Airdrie Working Men’s Club spokesperson expressed the hope for a large turnout from Monklands and beyond to make the event a success.
