Annan gets set for festive party

Annan is gearing up for a festive celebration set to take place tomorrow, Saturday, November 30, filled with free entertainment, live music, and a lantern parade. The town in Dumfries and Galloway is buzzing with anticipation as preparations are underway, including the installation of a beacon Christmas tree outside the town hall. The Annan Christmas Lights Committee, led by Louisa Currie, Sean Black, and Fiona Robson, have worked tirelessly to ensure a spectacular event for the community.
The festivities will kick off with a lantern parade starting at the Xtra Special car park at 4.45pm, leading the way to the town hall for the official lights switch-on by Young Citizen of the Year Tierney Garner at 5.15pm. Throughout the day, there will be a series of performances by local talent on stage in front of the War Memorial, hosted by Andrea Keenan. The entertainment lineup includes the South West of Scotland Piping and Drumming Academy, Annan Town Band, Highland Hustle with Charley, and Caroline Sharkey.
In addition to the musical performances, there will be various activities and attractions on the High Street from 1pm to 4pm, such as The Magic Juggler, balloon models by Ranger J from Kingdom Of Creatures, craft fairs at the Market Hall and The Corner House Hotel, and a forging workshop with blacksmith Nate Robinson. Children will have the chance to meet Santa at St Andrew’s Church, enjoy free face painting and tattoos by Paint and Sparkles, and interact with friendly donkeys.

Evans IT will host a Warhammer painting session and raffle, while Potts Amusements fun fair rides will be available on the Xtra Special car park.
