Every grandparent dreams of the day her grandchildren get married and make great grandchildren. While grandparents are always an honorary gust at their grandchildren’s wedding, very few have the chance to be a key part of the wedding party.
Christine Quinn decided to break traditional views on bridesmaids by asking her grandmother to be a part of her special group of ladies. 89-year-old Nana Betty was more than obliged to except the honor and duty, and turns out she was the life of the wedding party, and the wedding itself!
Quinn has always been very close with her grandmother. In an interview with the Huffpost she shared, “She had the entire wedding party laughing with her words of wisdom and funny comments throughout the day.”
She sure doesn’t party like a granny, no not all. In fact, “Nana got on the party bus with the rest of the wedding party instead of ‘going home to rest’ but did not tell my mom (her daughter). She also danced the entire night away, including an adorable moment when she and my husband’s grandmother, Bellsie, danced together. It was amazing.”
Some of the best advice Nana had to share with her granddaughter, “You’re only as old as you feel and I feel young today. We’ll all grow old, but we don’t necessarily have to grow up!”
Thanks Nana Betty, your words are something we should all strive to adhere!
Quinn admits her Grandma was originally a little shocked at her request. “She asked me about 10 times, ‘Are you sure?’ and ‘why would you want an old lady in your bridal party?’”
Clearly, Quinn knows her grandmother is anything but an ‘old lady.’
Nana Betty looked great in her bridesmaid dress!
“She just has an amazing sense of humor and outlook on life that I strive to emulate every day. Everyone loves her.”
