Carer wins £110m EuroMillions jackpot after going to Tesco for her son

A carer from Northallerton has struck gold by winning a staggering £110 million in the EuroMillions lottery, all thanks to a last-minute decision to buy a ticket for her son. Sheena Clayton, aged 37, who usually purchases her tickets online, almost missed the draw on November 22 after finishing a night shift feeling exhausted. It was only because her son asked for something from the shop that Sheena went out to Tesco and decided to buy a ticket at the counter. Reflecting on her fortunate turn of events, Sheena shared, “It was only because one of my sons wanted something from the shop that I ventured out to Tesco and as I was paying thought, ahh I can buy a ticket, and I did! And thank goodness I did – I guess I owe this win to my son!”
Despite her life-changing win, Sheena has expressed her intention to continue working as a carer. Overwhelmed by her newfound millionaire status, she noted, “It is just surreal – I feel I am proof that winning The National Lottery does really happen – and happens to ordinary people like me! And this is why I wanted to share my incredible news.” Sheena’s winning numbers were 10, 11, 12, 29, 31 and the Lucky Star, 8. Discovering her win by checking her Lucky Dip ticket on her phone, she described her initial reaction as fluctuating between screaming, crying, and feeling shocked and numb.
Being a mother of two boys aged nine and 11, Sheena disclosed that a caravan is at the top of their shopping list. Previously saving up for one, the family now plans to buy it sooner and embark on adventures with the boys. Wales and a tour of the Scottish coastline are already on their travel priority list. Additionally, Sheena aims to put a deposit on a house as the family currently lives in rented accommodation, alongside having the best family Christmas ever and purchasing a new sofa. Despite her win, Sheena has no plans to reduce her work hours, even going straight to work just four hours after discovering she won the EuroMillions.
She bought her winning ticket at Tesco in Northallerton and expressed gratitude for her son’s prompt that led to her taking a chance on the lottery. This life-changing win has opened up numerous opportunities for Sheena and her family, making their future exciting and promising. The story of Sheena Clayton’s unexpected lottery win serves as a reminder that miracles can happen to ordinary individuals, bringing dreams within reach and creating new beginnings full of hope and possibilities.
