Cat wedged inside drainpipe found with head poking out of tube

Firefighters from Avon Fire and Rescue Service came to the rescue of a female cat named John, who was found wedged inside a drainpipe with her head poking out of the tube. The incident took place in Clevedon, Somerset, where the crew from Clevedon Fire Station received a call at 9.55am on Saturday. The black feline had become stuck in a pipe connected to a garage, prompting the firefighters to use small tools to free her.
Pictures posted by the fire crew on Facebook captured the moment when John’s head was visible from the pipe, with part of the drainpipe still attached to her neck. The crew decided that the easiest and least distressing option was to cut a section of the pipe with John still inside. After the rescue operation, John was taken to a local vet where the remaining drainpipe could be safely removed.
In a statement on social media, Avon Fire and Rescue Service explained the rescue process: “The crew used ladders and small tools to cut John out. The easiest and least distressing option was to cut a section of the pipe out with John in situ. John was then transported to a local vet who sedated her in order for the rescue to continue where no serious injury was found. John was left with the vet and her family to be checked over by the vet until well enough to return home.”
This heartwarming rescue mission highlights the dedication and care that emergency services provide to all creatures, big and small, in need of help.
In conclusion, the story of John the cat’s rescue is a reminder of the compassion and quick response shown by firefighters in times of need, even for our beloved furry friends. It is heartening to see a happy ending with John being safely freed from the drainpipe and receiving the necessary care from a local veterinarian. Let’s all be grateful for the selfless work of these firefighters who go above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of our community, including our animal companions.
