Celtic-daft girl delighted with surprise visit from Hoops heroes at children’s hospital
Celtic Enthusiast Girl Thrilled by Surprise Visit from Hoops Stars at Children’s Hospital
Seven-year-old Amelia Ruddick, a devoted Celtic fan from Coatbridge, was overjoyed when Callum McGregor and other Celtic players paid a surprise visit to the children’s ward where she was receiving treatment. Amelia, who attends an additional support needs school and is autistic, was being cared for at Glasgow Children’s Hospital for a bowel condition that requires regular stays. During her recent admission, the Scottish Premiership Champions made her day by visiting the hospital, spreading festive cheer on December 2.
Amelia’s mother, Nadia McFarlane, shared how much the visit meant to her daughter, who was gifted a Celtic calendar and annual by key players including James Forrest, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and Kyogo Furuhashi. Despite missing the experience due to traffic, Nadia expressed her delight for Amelia, who was thrilled to meet her favorite team. Amelia, who was non-verbal autistic until just over a year ago, described the experience of meeting the players as “amazing.”
The visit from the Celtic stars gave Amelia a much-needed boost before she returned home a few days later, with her mother hoping she can enjoy Christmas with her three brothers. Nadia shared that Amelia is set to undergo surgery after the holidays, and while hospital visits have been frequent for the family, she remains hopeful for a peaceful Christmas at home.
Amelia dreams of one day becoming a mascot for Celtic, as she watches games avidly and looks up to players like Callum McGregor. Despite facing health challenges, Amelia’s love for the team and the special visit from her heroes continue to light up her days.
In summary, the heartwarming surprise visit from the Celtic players brought immeasurable joy to young Amelia, showcasing the power of sports to uplift and inspire, especially during challenging times. The support and kindness shown by the football stars not only made Amelia’s Christmas but also strengthened her resilience as she faces health hurdles with courage and hope.
