Christmas ‘tractor run’ set to take to Stirling streets to raise money for heart charity

A heartwarming Christmas ‘tractor run’ fundraiser is set to illuminate the streets of Stirling as over 60 tractors gather for a special charity event. The initiative, in memory of a beloved Gargunnock woman, aims to raise funds for the Somerville Heart Foundation. Following the success of a previous event that raised over £5,000 for charity earlier this year, the festive tractor run will see a convoy of tractors and articulated lorries adorned in Christmas decorations, parading through Stirling’s roads.

Organised by Bob Wilson from Kippen, the event is scheduled for the evening of December 7, starting and finishing at the United Auctions market in Stirling. The route will take the vehicles through Causewayhead, Bridge of Allan, Dunblane, and Doune, offering a picturesque display of Christmas spirit to the community. Wilson expressed his excitement, stating, “We have about 65 entries confirmed to be taking part – including some classic and modern models – and the plan is for it to be a nice feel-good thing for the community to come out and enjoy.”

The fundraiser honours Gargunnock farmer Heather McAllister, with all proceeds going towards the Somerville Heart Foundation charity. Wilson highlighted the support received so far, with £1,700 already raised through entries and donations prior to the event. The previous tractor run’s unexpected success, raising £6,000 for charity, inspired the decision to host another in support of a great cause.

In partnership with the Royal Highland Education Trust, the event aims to educate young people about the significance of farming. Wilson shared, “The RHET have been heavily involved in helping us out with the tractor run, and we’re trying to promote what they do as well – educating the young people about what farming is all about.” Donations to the Trossachs Christmas Tractor Run can be made at justgiving.com/page/robert-wilson-1728415105679.

The heartwarming initiative not only celebrates the festive season but also pays tribute to a cherished member of the community while supporting a vital charity. The spirit of giving and togetherness shines brightly through this unique and charitable event in Stirling.
