Delighted West Lothian School Achieves 10th Green Flag Award

Linlithgow Bridge Primary School in West Lothian is celebrating a significant milestone after being awarded its 10th Green Flag Award for its dedication to being environmentally friendly. The Green Flag Award is the top honour in the international Eco-Schools programme and was presented to the school by environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the Eco-Schools and Young Reporters for the Environment programmes, Keep Scotland Beautiful has hosted various activities such as online assemblies, live lessons, and celebration challenges for participating schools. Linlithgow Bridge Primary School had the privilege of a visit from Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Education and Learning Officer, Nicola Davidson, who presented the school’s Eco-Committee with a certificate commemorating their achievement.

Barry Fisher, CEO of Keep Scotland Beautiful, praised the school’s commitment to environmental sustainability, stating, “For the past 30 years, we have loved hearing about the remarkable achievements of our young people and the development of learning for sustainability across the world.” He also highlighted the ongoing support provided by the Climate Action Schools framework.

The Eco-Schools programme is the largest sustainable schools initiative globally, operated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and delivered by Keep Scotland Beautiful. Launched in Scotland in 1994, the programme has since expanded to the UK, Denmark, and Germany, encouraging schools to implement sustainable practices and environmental education.

As schools like Linlithgow Bridge Primary continue to lead by example in promoting environmental stewardship, their efforts serve as inspiration for other institutions and communities to follow suit in creating a more sustainable future for all.
